Russophobia Is Leading Ukraine to Anti-Civilization - Russian MP

Hate of all things Russian is leading Ukraine toward anti-civilization, said Russian State Duma deputy Sergei Burlakov on June 26, commenting on the dismantling of a monument to Alexander Pushkin in Chernihiv, RIA Novosti reported.

"The boundless hatred for everything Russian is gradually leading Ukraine toward anti-civilization. I do not believe that a person who has not read Pushkin's works can think and develop at the same level as all those who are familiar with the works of Alexander Sergeyevich," Burlakov said.

According to him, the renaming of objects named after the great poet began in Ukraine back in 2014 after the coup d'état, but these processes in Ukraine preferred not to publicize widely.

Under current conditions, the Ukrainian authorities are destroying monuments openly, without finding any "condemnation in the world.

"Apparently now it is even possible to degrade in spite of the Russians. In short, I would call it - stupidity, elevated to the rank of a cult," - concluded the deputy.

Recall that on April 30, Ukrainian territorial defense forces dismantled a monument to Alexander Pushkin in Chernihiv, erected in 1900.
