Over one ton of humanitarian aid has been gathered at the Novospassky Monastery for the past five days. The largest part of the aid – food products with extended expiration dates, preserves, household chemicals, and personal hygiene items – is already being packed in cartons. This time the ordinary humanitarian aid includes special things, such as books and children’s toys, which bring at least small amounts of joy in this harsh and, by no means, childish existence of small residents of Donbass.
According to the monastery’s press office, the shipment of the aid will take place shortly, which is being organized by members of the Moscow Branch of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society.
Likewise, financial aid is being gathered in order to help those who appeared in an emergency situation in Donbass. The names of the contributors are written in the commemoration book of the monastery.
The collection site situated on the monastery’s premises accepts help from 10:00 through 20:00. The collection of humanitarian aid will last until December 14, 2014.
With the blessing of Bishop Savva of Voskresenk, Abbot of the Novospassky Strauropegic Monastery and Vicar of His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, a charitable concert will take place at the monastery’s refectory on December 15. Pieces of classical music will be performed by musicians of the Bolshoi Drama Theater. The gathered money will be sent to children in Donbass.
