Today, the Orthodox on the Old Church calendar commemorate the Sixth Ecumenical Council, which was the Third Council of Constantinople in 681. This council condemned the heresy known as Monothelitism, which argued that Christ has one will because He is one person, even though He is a person with two natures. The council, however, concluded with the Orthodox position that, as one person with two natures, Christ has two wills: a divine will and a human will. Not only does this distinction have important theological implications, it has important anthropological implications. The most relevant one to this crowd would be the belief that free will is intrinsic to human nature.

A lack of informed consent is a violation of free will. While a lack of consent is the fundamental difference between rape and a lawful union, statutory rape is also a violation of free will because a minor’s lack of maturity prevents any supposed consent from being informed.

Drugs like Midazolam (aka Versed) are useful in procedures like endoscopy of the upper gastrointestinal tract. However, it has also be used to violate a person’s free will, such as in allowing medical students to practice their gynecology skills on a live subject before she undergoes the procedure she actually consented to. Versed is also used to ensure consent isn’t withdrawn at the last moment of voluntary euthanasia (aka physician-assisted suicide) and can make execution by lethal injection easier to watch. Versed allows the condemned prisoner to remain conscious during the administration of the other drugs that can cause extreme pain and panic, which makes an execution even more unpleasant to watch.

Versed is now used in the treatment of viral and bacterial respiratory infections… or rather, to help avoid treating viral and bacterial respiratory infections and have the patient consent, without free will, to being put on a ventilator so the untreated respiratory infection has a better chance of killing the person.

Informed consent is addressed in the first point of the Nuremberg Code, but that’s technically only specific to experiments and even then, there’s ways to manufacture consent and cook the books. Chemical and surgical procured abortions were around before the Nuremberg Code, as was ECT (Electroconvulsive therapy), and they continue today without any real and honest informed consent. The truth is that procured abortion is an abuse against women, falsely sold as a right, and behind closed doors, ECT is sometimes referred to as “wife taming.”

The Third Reich introduced the Italian invention of electroshock therapy to psychiatric hospitals and asylums, as well as the Auschwitz concentration camp to “make emotionally disturbed people fit for work again.” ECT was also modified so that it could be used for euthanasia. As someone trained in electrical theory and safety, I can tell you that the only modification necessary to use ECT for euthanasia would be to direct the electrical current through the chest cavity rather than the skull. However, it appears Nazi psychiatrists use some other form of modified ECT to kill their patients.

Dr. Leo Alexander, an American psychiatrist, who was a medical advisor at the Nuremburg trials, stated in an article in the New England Journal of Medicine (July 1949): “Whatever proportions theses crimes finally assumed, it became evident to all who investigated them that they had started from small beginnings. The beginnings at first were merely a subtle shift in emphasis in the basic attitude of the physicians. It started with the acceptance of the attitude, basic in the euthanasia movement, that there is such a thing as a life not worthy to be lived.”

But is this really where it started? Did it not actually start when the scientific paradigm shifted to a mechanistic materialistic assumption where the only real distinction between the living and the dead is a difference in biochemical states? While the subsequent theories regarding the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life (aka On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection) appears to have merit within a mechanistic materialistic paradigm, it negates any possibility of free will. Ironically, the very paradigm in which the Nuremberg Code was written negates the possibility of free will and, therefore, merely pays lip service to informed consent.

Dr. Leo Alexander, and I use the term doctor loosely, was himself a staunch supporter of electroshock, lobotomy, and eugenics. He had originally praised Hitler’s eugenics program, which included the involuntary sterilization of hundreds of thousands of people. Of course, Dr. Leo Alexander was not alone. Hitler’s eugenics program received international support from psychiatrists and eugenics advocates around the world, including from right here in Alberta.

The Alberta Eugenics Board and the Sexual Sterilization Act were only dissolved and repealed in 1972, a couple of years after a major step had been taken towards voluntary eugenics (i.e., legalized procured abortion), which is credited to our current prime minister’s father.

This game of smoke and mirrors played by politicians has been going on long before the majority of us were born, let alone able to vote. Do not think for a second that any movement or event that gains international attention is not under the control and manipulation of the political class. As Elder Justin Parvu of Romania said: “We live in an anarchic world, the entire political class is an enemy of Christ and a servant of evil, that is why even living our simple life without abdicating our Christian principles is a daily confession and martyrdom.”

In the same interview from 2009, Elder Justin Parvu also said: “Therefore, please stop looking for solutions. Human solutions are nonexistent, my dears! The solution is to die for Christ. Fathers will give up their sons, mothers, their daughters, unto death. Behold, we witness the fulfillment of this prophecy. If the mother will let the child be vaccinated, it’s as if giving him over to die…”

And the quote from Saint Gabriel of Georgia, “Conscience is a part of God in your heart. Before going to bed, render a short account of yourself: how you spent the day, what you did, when you sinned, what you should have done. Be demanding towards yourself.”
