America made a strong showing at the event, with Ashley Caldwell taking 2nd place in the women's competition:
Meanwhile, Russian athletes dominated the competition by taking three medals, including 3rd place in the women's competition, 3rd place in the men's competition, and this impressive 1st place win by Maxim Burov:
Despite the International Olympic Committee's aggressive sanctions policy against Russian sportsmen over the past 5 years, the FIS Freestyle Moguls and Aerials Race Director Andrea Rinaldi (SUI) visited the competitions in Yaroslavl as a VIP-guest. Having extensive experience in organizing international sporting events, Mr. Rinaldi personally assisted organizers and sportsmen during his 7-day visit.
In a short personal interview for Russian Faith, Mr. Rinaldi said the event in Yaroslavl was very well organized, and that the high quality was suitable for world-class events. He expressed his opinion that similar international competitions should take place in Russia in the future.
Geraldo Silva, Assistant Editor for Russian Faith, interviewed some local Russians who attended the event:
Thankfully, they had already finished supper, so Geraldo's life was not in danger. They made no attempts to eat him.
We at Russian Faith are grateful for the hospitality offered to us by the FIS Aerials World Cup, and we offer congratulations to all the athletes for their hard work and a job well done. We would be happy to see more world-class skiing competitions here in the future!
