A famine in the world's poorest countries, if it happens, will be the result of the activities of the U.S. and European bureaucracy, Vladimir Putin said at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 17.

"The possible famine in the poorest countries will be entirely on the conscience of the United States and European bureaucracy," Vladimir Putin said.

According to the President of Russia, "the European bureaucracy works "like millstones in an 18th century mill," so they can't cancel even stupid decisions.

As for Ukraine's export of grain, Vladimir Putin reminded that Russia does not interfere with its export: "We do not interfere with the export of grain from Ukraine, let them clear it and export it," Putin stressed.
