There can be no return to the hopes that the Russian authorities had during the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Joe Biden in Geneva, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on June 15 during a communication with journalists.

"Is it possible to return to the spirit of Geneva? To the spirit of Geneva, when there were any hopes - unlikely," he said, noting that what is happening now leaves no room for doubt.

"There may be new hopes, but it will be a completely different mode of communication," he added.

Recall, Peskov also noted that although it will not be possible to establish relations with Europe and the United States in the near future, it will still be necessary to be "somehow communicate" with them in the future.

Recall that the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States was held in Geneva in 2021. After the meeting, however, the Foreign Ministry said that the United States has not changed its attitude towards Russia.
