Residents of the Moldovan city of Balti were urged by Bishop Markell of Balti and Falesti to come out in protest against the LGBT march on June 13, Komsomolskaya Pravda v Moldavia reported.

"The most shameless sinners, the sodomites, want to hold their shameful parade in our city. In the name of preserving the purity of our souls and the souls of our children, I urge you to gather in Cathedral Square to oppose this shamelessness," said Bishop Markell of Balti and Falesti.

The clergyman appealed to the inhabitants of the republic, pointing out that in the fight against sodomites it is impossible to stand aside, that the inaction of citizens will be seen as complicity with the LGBT community.

Earlier, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban banned the LGBT parade in the Moldovan capital, stating that representatives of sexual perverts could hold their events in their homes, that children should not see "such things in the street".

Ceban stressed that the ban does not violate basic human rights, that everyone in Moldova has equal rights, but that it will not allow for division and chaos in society.
