Slovenia's law stating that marriage 'is a union between a man and a woman' was ruled unconstitutional by the country's Constitutional Court, STA reported July 8.
The wording of the court said that the rule that only people of different sexes can marry and adopt children allegedly discriminates against the rights of same-sex unions. The Constitutional Court gave the Slovenian National Assembly six months to correct the discrepancy. Until it is corrected, same-sex marriages will remain formally banned in Slovenia.
Recall that earlier a petition to legalize same-sex marriage in Ukraine received 25,000 votes. This means that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and the government will be obliged to consider the issue.
