The new documentary film about one of the most famous saints of the twentieth century Archbishop John of Shanghai will be shown tonight, July 2, 2021 at 23.30 on the TV channel "NTN". The filming was attended by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kyiv and All Ukraine and Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, reports foma.in.ua.

The film crew will visit the places associated with the life of the saint - from his birthplace in the village of Adamovka in Donetsk region to the Cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in San Francisco, where his relics are buried. The geography of the space that crossed the path of St. John's life is very vast - it is the territory of our country, as well as China, USA, Serbia, France and even an island in the Pacific Ocean.

"For us, St. John is like our own, as native," says one of the participants in the film, Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk. "Why do we commemorate him in Adamovka as St. John, Archbishop and Wonderworker of Shanghai, San Francisco and Adamovka? We call him so because he grew up in our homeland".

The filmmakers timed it to the 100th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad. The director of the tape was Konstantin Onishchenko, the author of the script - Olga Marikutsa, producer - Anton Nikitin. The picture was made by the charitable foundation "Suzir'ya Turboty".

The film can be seen today at 23.30 (rerun - July 4 at 5.30) on the air of the channel "NTN", on July 3, 2021 at 22.40.
