The sacrilegious band desecrated the interior of the chapel, threatening the appointed guard saying, "We know where you live, and we will kill you."
In the early hours of Monday morning, June 6, 2022, a group of about 50 Jews broke through the fence gate and entered the Jerusalem Patriarchate chapel on Mount Zion, according to the Jerusalem Patriarchate's General Secretariat.
The intruders desecrated the interior of the chapel, threatening the Jerusalem Patriarchate-appointed guard and saying, "We know where you live, and we will kill you."
Vandals have already repeatedly broken into and desecrated the chapel, trespassing on the sanctuary and threatening Christian witness and presence at this holy site, where both the Last Supper and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles on the day of Pentecost took place.
Fleeing the wrath of the Jews, the guard managed to call the police, who soon arrived on the scene to restore order.
It is reported that the Patriarchate strongly protests against such totally unacceptable actions and will work in every way to ensure justice and the safety of its staff.
The complaint to the police was filed by Metropolitan Isichios of Capitolias, Chairman of the Finance Department of the Jerusalem Patriarchate, who demanded that the police do everything possible to find the vandals and restore justice for the peace and quiet of Christians, especially in the run-up to the celebration of Holy Pentecost next Sunday and the Feast of the Holy Spirit on Monday.
