A task force to combat online harassment and gender-based violence was created on June 16 in the United States. The announcement was made by U.S. Vice President Kamala Haris, Fox News reported.
The working group's memorandum was published by the White House. It condemns "gender misinformation." The Biden administration will "develop programs and policies to combat online harassment, insults and disinformation campaigns targeting women and LGBT+ individuals who are public and political figures, members of the government, as well as community leaders, activists and journalists - in the United States and around the world."
"Online abuse and harassment aimed at disempowering women to make policy decisions about their own lives and society undermines the functioning of democracy," the working group's founders say.
The director of the White House Gender Policy Council and the assistant to the president for national security will lead an interagency effort to combat online harassment and abuse, particularly gender-based violence using technology, and develop specific recommendations to improve the situation.
Recall that the day before, Biden stated that there are as many LGBT+ individuals working in his administration as there have not been in the administrations of any other U.S. president.
