Unnoticed by all of us, modern trends are being introduced into our lives. Whether we like it or not.
One of the most dangerous things, in my opinion, is living outwardly. That is, when the outer does not correspond to the inner, when it prevails over the inner, when it substitutes the essence in order to deceive. A wrap without content. The whole person is only in the external, in the visible. Running headlong away from everything deep, inner, invisible.
As far back as two thousand years ago the Lord rebuked this sin, calling out to His compatriots:
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, for you are like painted tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness; so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly are filled with hypocrisy and iniquity."
There is nothing new under the sun. Man remains the same.
But I don't think the phenomenon has ever evolved or spread so rapidly before. Today, "life on display" has captured millions of souls in its captivity.
Technological advances have undoubtedly contributed to this. The opportunity to tell thousands of people about themselves in the blink of an eye.
The scary thing is that man gradually ceases to see the meaning, the depth, it becomes unnecessary to him, external trinkets and forms replace the essence and satisfy him. More and more people are satisfied with such lies.
Lies become the norm. People lose themselves, their uniqueness, and therefore the possibility of salvation. Only by knowing oneself can one come to repentance, and thus to salvation.
Cries can be heard from everywhere. Some shout to the world about their imaginary accomplishments, trying to show what a beautiful and happy life they have. Others demonstrate the eternal struggle for justice, proving to everyone that life is a struggle.
But life is not a struggle. Life is listening. Listening to God, catching His will, His whispers...
Fighting for life, in principle, is impossible. Life is given by the Life-giver. And the struggle for life turns into a struggle with Him. He is Life.
We can only enjoy life, just live, breathe, see, think, observe, heed, contemplate, dissolve in every moment. To seek His presence everywhere.
The joy of life, rather than the struggle for it on this side of the Barrier, flows seamlessly into joy on the other side as well.
The quieter we live, the more we can hear. We Christians don't have to prove anything to anyone, we don't have to shout about anything. We should learn to listen and heed.
The less one shouts, the fewer lies there will probably be in the world.
A whisper is the loudest cry of the soul. A strong prayer is made by whispering.
