Fr. Andrew Stephan Damick, a popular American priest, names and challenges stereotypes about the original Christian Church

(Editor's note: Fr. Andrew is neither affiliated with Russian Faith, nor involved in RF content creation - in any capacity.)

We highly recommend this Youtube channel, Theoria (Divine Vision in Greek). It has some fantastic videos about Orthodox Christianity.

This one features Father Andrew Stephen Damick, a well-known and popular Antiochian Orthodox Archpriest. He grew up the son of Evangelical missionaries.

Damick is a great speaker and apologist, famous for his blog, his podcast, and his book Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy, which we highly recommend.

In this video, Fr Andrew Stephan, always highly articulate, names and challenges the most popular misconceptions and stereotypes people have about Orthodox Christianity.

Misconception #1: The Orthodox Church is only for certain kinds of people (Greeks, Russians, etc.)

Misconception #2: The Orthodox Church is the same as the Roman Catholic Church.

Misconception #3: Orthodox Christians worship images & idols.

Misconception #4: Orthodox Christians believe they can earn their way to heaven (this is sometimes called "works righteousness").

Misconception #5: The Orthodox Church is a dead religion.
